The Annual Appeal for the Centacare will take place at all Masses this weekend. If you would like to donate later, please take one of the envelopes and post it directly to Centacare. Centacare has been supporting and caring for Melbourne families for 75 years and relies on the support of our Catholic community. Centacare supports the families through the following services:

Thank you to all those who supported our appeal for our Sister Parish in El Salvador. A total of $3814.50 was raised, made up of $2889 in donations, $269.50 from tins returned and $656 from the sale of artifacts.
New Parishioners are invited to complete a card giving us your name & address, so that we can meet you and make you feel welcome in our community. Cards are available in the Church Foyer.
Parishioners, who contribute to the Thanksgiving Program either by envelopes or Credit Card, please note receipts are available in the Foyer for collection this weekend, along with the next set of Thanksgiving envelopes. If you would like to contribute to the Thanksgiving Program please contact the Parish Office 9807 9494.
If you would like a Mass offered for a particular intention such as an anniversary, recent death or to give thanks for blessings received, please collect an envelope from the foyer and then arrange the date & time with Fr John. The office staff are not able to arrange Masses as they do not know the Priest´s commitments.
The 38th Annual Art Show will be held in the Hall from 6th – 9th August. This is a major event, which financially benefits our parish.
With over 1,000 paintings on display for sale, the Show is a wonderful showcase of many high profile and talented Victorian and interstate artists. All parishioners are cordially invited to come along.
Our Patron, John Michael Howson, will be attending the Opening Night Cocktail Party on Friday 6th August. Tickets $30 a head including finger food and drinks;

On the Foyer noticeboard there is a copy of the latest Newsletter from Sr Marie Bourke outlining her work in Zambia.
The latest issue of "Kairos" has two articles treating in different ways the power of forgiveness to heal- an interview with the inspiring Immacule Ilibagiza of Rwanda; and Br Mark O´Connor writes about the forgiveness of a Samoan family that lost their son in fatal fight and also about Bishop Willie Walsh of Killaloe Ireland. There is also an interesting supplement on Vocations.
The Latest edition of "Inform" is now available in the Church foyer. This edition was written by Fr Paul Gardiner SJ who was the Postulator of Mary MacKillop´s cause of Canonisation. He gives a very good explanation of the canonisation process and shares some insights of Mary´s life.
There will be no meeting on 7th July. Next meeting for parishioners experiencing loss and grief is Wednesday 4th August at 2.00pm. Meetings are held in the Parish House on the first Wednesday each month. Extra meetings (day or evening) will be arranged to suit particular needs. The Life, Marriage and Family Office invite you and your families to join us at the Annual Anniversary Mass. The Mass will be celebrated at St Patrick´s Cathedral on Sun 22nd Aug at 11.00am by Archbishop Denis Hart. Couples who register will receive commemorative certificates & packs. Catholics are encouraged to receive Communion under both species at our Masses. Drinking from the chalice is the preferred method of receiving the Blood of Christ because of the Lord´s command: "Take and drink." We do not allow people to dip the host into the chalice.
Parishioners are invited to the Parish House for Morning Tea.

Please be aware that the Church carpark will usually be closed on weekdays between 8.30am and 8.55am. We regret the inconvenience this will cause some parishioners but we need to protect children who are walking to school.
A meeting with the candidates for the Chisholm electorate in the forthcoming elections will be held at St Luke´s Uniting Church, 94 Essex Rd, Mt Waverley at 8pm on Monday 9th Aug. Each of the candidates will be heard and then questions will be taken from the floor.
