Dear Parishioners,
Like the Church in every other place, we who make up this Parish are people with a mission. All that we are about as a community of Christian people can be summed up under four headings.
COMMUNITY:
Parish is people united in a common faith. We belong together and strive to welcome the stranger and the new member, and also to provide the means for what is required to enable the Parish to function in all its aspects. There are many groups in the Parish which foster community (sporting and social groups etc.) and there are others which serve our community (among these, the Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Committee and Fund-raising and Working Groups). The Parish employs two secretaries to assist in the organization and administration side of things.
WORSHIP:
Our faith finds one of its expressions in prayer and the celebration of the Sacraments. The Parish provides four Masses over the weekend, each of which relies on the particular participation of a number of people and the general participation of all. Our community worship is central to our Parish life.
PASTORAL CARE:
Faith is also expressed through love and each of us is sent from mass to live out our faith in loving service of God and other. There are a number of groups in the Parish which offer support to people in one way or another. In this Parish, we also strive to ensure that particular pastoral care is provided to those in need by the Parish itself. For this reason the Parish employs a Pastoral Associate, Sister Roma Carroll, whose task is to see that the sick and the bereaved are cared for and that, where possible, assistance is offered to those in need.
PROCLAIMING THE GOSPEL:
Ours is also the mission to teach the Gospel and to nurture continued growth in faith in all our members, both “new” and “old”. This happens in homes, school and various other groups of the Parish. We employ a Pastoral Associate, Malcolm Lock, to assist in this area. His role is to support our infants and their parents, our children and our adults, too, to be adequately helped to live the Christian life the Sacraments call for.
